PROJECT DISTRIBUTE--2026--STUFF MASTER
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 10,2010..YEAR 1..WEEK 25--BLOG 21..DAY 179 OF 5840
SEVEN WEEKS SINCE I LAST BLOGGED.. September 20.........
Reason: Fully occupied 4-5-6 hours a day quilting--creating inventory of wall hangings and puppy/kitty quilts for a local Community Center Christmas Craft Fair...November 6th.
Now "recovering" from that interesting and instructive experience...and will again focus on this project: getting rid of STUFF.....
..and beginning today: My county library is willing to accept my New Yorker Magazines--so 4 copies will be given/distributed..to a worthy/useful cause..
This will be a continuing challenge....and at the moment I do not have any idea how this will work itself through in the next few months....it will be interesting to see..

Unblievable--- amost FOUR weeks since the last blog.....
I have NOT been distributing "stuff"..geting-rid-of 'stuff......
yes!!! life HAS been happening again..taking time-energy and focus ....and..
my major focus has been on completing an inventory of quilts to sell at the November 5th Christmas Crafts Fair at my local Community Center...
..and I HAVE progressed and have achieved and am achieving at that..
However...on Friday..September 17. I did mail off to Japan..my last two professional journals.
I am very please with that--because they had been "lingering' in my blue office for months...
What I am discovering-acknowledging.. is that getting-rid-of "stuff" is WORK..needing focused attention...
...so o.k. who knows WHEN my next distribute will be accomplished...probably NOT until after November 5.
So be it!!!

WOW!!!! finally...I did manage to get-rid-of..extraneous stuff today...
I had been making an accounting of a challenge to get-rid-of 50 catagories of stuff...
and "find-my-life"..I think I was somewhere in mid 40's......
so getting there......I will check to be sure...
Items..out-of-house: Formal stationary..and forms for the County Grand Jury....California has by Consitution a CIVIL Grand Jury system...each Jury impanneled for one year...
I served three years: 2001-02..2002-03 and 2005-06....which means this 'stuff' was on my office shelf for at least 4 years...
Good!!! Goood!!! Progress!!!!!

To completed ALL unfinished quilts...AND use ALL scraps and stash by 2020...and to "never" buy new fabric.
The Quilt/Stash Project-2020 is now taking priority---and I am working to create a substancial inventory of wall hangings..puppy/kitty quilts and baby quilts by November 10th when I will first sell my quilts at a Community Crafts Fair.

I started Project Distribute-2026 sometime in February,2010; I started this blog May 25th.
In Blog #2--May 27th-- I mentioned professional organizer, Gail Blanke (May-AARP Bulletin) and her book: "Throw Out 50 Things: Clear the Clutter, Find Your Life".
As "emphasized" several times: I DO NOT have clutter; and my closets, cabinets and drawsers ARE neatly organized, I did "discover" EXTRANEOUS STUFF...
and thus was inspired to take the Blanke challenge, starting this blog to document my progress....and "Find My Life"????
By Blog #11--July 6th I had documented 17 catagories of extraneous stuff--out of house.
Then, came the Community Flea Market--July 10th and on July 12th (Blog #13) I documented 24 catagories of stuff..sold!!!
So as of July 10th the total number of catagories meeting the Blanke challenge: 40
Then, yesterday, July 13th...two more catagories of STUFF-- DISTRIBUTED:
1. A package of 15 personal grooming items delivered to an agency serving the homeless ( Beautifully packaged hair brushes and combs from upscale hotels in Japan).
2. 10 recent magazines delivered to local library
So..Total 42 items.............WOW!!! only 8 more and the Blanke challenge completed.
This is turning out to be an adventure...Ever Onward

Saved for her were professional books..video tapes.....and a wall hanging MADE BY ME...with authentic Japanese fabric --given to me in 2003--.

Well worth the $2.89 in postage.
Also on the way into the mail 2 seminal books on Sex Therapy.. to be used by a professional colleague.
So counting: 15 (catagories) of extraneous stuff distributed...35 to go.
For those monitoring..no clothing distributed..long uninteresting story..probably not until week 6 will this be accomplished..

Thursday, June 17, 2010..year 1...Week 4...Blog 8.. Day 24 of 5840
CELEBRATE!!! CATAGORY # 13 of extraneous stuff... distributed today.
The Gail Blanke challenge: 50 (catagories) of things/stuff out of my house/life...and 'FIND MY LIFE" continues:
Delivered/"distributed" to my local library this morning:
38 -2009-2010 New Yorker (weekly) magazines; 15- 2009-2010 assorted monthly magazines.
This will be a monthly "distribution" task; and "bless'' the library for this worthy program of making a wide variety of magazines free to whoever....And helping those of us who seek to "do-good" while also getting-rid-of extraneous stuff.
Aslo accomplished June 16--yesterday: accepted by a up-scale homefurnishing consignment shop--- 12 smoky-glass compote/desert dishes. Not out-of-my-life yet..but out of my house.
So with luck someone will appreciate/value..and buy.....and I will have some money...and another part of my Project Distribute-2026 goal will be accomplished...
Planing on first clothing distribution tomorrow...Local organization helping needy women prepare for the working world....will my offering be acceptable???

Today reporting:

1. 9 packages of macaromi and rice taken to the County Food Bank...June 11
2. Miscallaneous small useful items taken to Salvation Army..today
So ..as of today, June 12 a total of NINE (9) catagories of "stuff" distributed.
...and to be reported on Monday, June 14......possibly 3 more "catagories" of extraneous useful stuff mailed/distributed to good causes..
Checking out Goodwill today...
and happily moving onward..

PROJECT DISTRIBUTE--2026..STUFF MASTER
MONDAY, JUNE 7, 2010..YEAR 1...WEEK 3...BLOG 5..DAY 14 of 5840
O.K. I have taken the Gail Blanke challenge of getting 50 (catagories) of things out of my house; and..."FIND MY LIFE". SO FAR IN 14 DAYS I HAVE DOCUMENTED 7 (SEVEN) "things" distributed..and out of my life.
I have also stated that I am NOT a horder or a clutter-er...all rooms of my house are orderly and neat; the closets,cabinets and drawers are organized and neat......
However....not really a revelation: there ARE an abundance of little used..no longer used or useful "things carefully organized, arranged, stored that can be..SHOULD BE "DISTRIBUTED"...
and the focus of my time and energy for next few weeks.... will be on getting "stuff" together for a fund raising community flea market/garage sale.....
So far this has been interesting, but demanding "work"..but amazingly rewarding...
Community Flea Market/garage sale--July 10.....if all goes as I hope and plan...I WILL have at LEAST 20 (CATAGORIES) OF 'STUFF REMOVED FROM MY HOUSE...

PETER WALSH....Distribution #7...........CLUTTER vs. DOWNSIZING
I know Peter Walsh as the organizer..supreme..of horders/clutters of the OPRAH show...
even doing a show on Thursday, May 27, as aa unexpected sort-of synergistic.and futher inspiration for this project...
Two things:
Inspired by the show I got all three of Peter's books from the library:
"How to Organize ( Just About) Anything" (year??) a daunting...and to me "useless" 500 page plus reference...for people REALLY deficient in organizing skills.
" It's All Too Much: A Plan for Living A Richer Life With Less Stuff" (2007)which confirmed to me that I DO KNOW how-to-do..what I will do.
and...."Enough Already!:Clearing Mental Clutter to Become the Best You (2009)...and i am much relieved to have Peter confirm...I do not have much "mental clutter".

Watching the recent Oprah...and reading Peter's books I clarified again for myself:
There ARE horders..and those whose life is full of "clutter'....fortunately I am NOT in those catagories...My house is neat and orderly; all closets,cabinates, drawers...and orderly and organized....
However, that does not mean I don't have some unnecessary extraneous STUFF.....
in need of getting rid-of...in order to DOWNSIZE..
So first step; Gail Blanke challenge...get rid of 50 "things" ..and ("FIND MY LIFE")...
On BLOG 3--May 29 I LISTED 6 (six) THINGS "DISTRIBUTED--GOTTEN OUT-OF -HOUSE
I will NOT list them again untill ALL 50 "things" have been accomplished...
I WILL confirm today...that Item #7...30 packaged dental health maintenace products were delvered to my local Homeless Center... on June 1 ( along with an "orphan"--"new-never used -small zippered cloth carry on bag.)
So..this DOWNSIZING--Project Distribute-2026..is chugging along...and it is a demanding...but fascinating ADVENTURE .

In Blog 2--May 27..I mention the new book by Gail Blanke: "Throiw out 50 things: Clean the Clutter Find Your Life.....
I stated: I do not have "clutter" and closets,drawers cabinates are neat and organized. However, I have started this project and blog to provide structure and documentation for getting rid of the extraneous STUFF in the next 16 years...
I aanticipate this as an ADVENTURE.....ruminating....I had this ah-ha..well WHY NOT take the Blanke challenge.....
Document getting rid of 50 "things".....and record what happens...
So that will be the structure going forward..for the first 50 "things".....
Aso of TODAY ..SIX "things" are "distributed"--gotten-rid-of:
1. 25 zippered carry on bags
2. Childhood photos to oldest son, youngest daughter
3. 10 books
4. 7 old..worn kitchen towels (replaced with 4 "gorgeous" new ones)
5. 102 tubes of mhair conditioner
6. 10 "orphan" wine glasses
And...I have DISCOVERED/checked-out...FOR THE FIRST TIME THE SALVANTION ARMY STORE in my county.
then...on May 27th master organizer, Peter Walsh was on Oprah again...I was inpired-motivated to get his books from the library.....
Report on THAT adventure next time

Wanting to practice and stay disciplined in writing this blog.....
I am experiencing this as an exciting adventure...but --if experience is a guide..with some 'kinks" to work out...
On first blog--May 25-- I described my house as neat and uncluttered...for the recrod it is also mostly dusted.vacumned and "clean"; and the cabinates.closets and drawers as orderly/organized .....
so NOT cluttered.....However if this site interested you because you do have a "cluttered/disorganized house..you maybe want to "investigate''/read the "widom' of Gail Blanke.
The AARP Bulletin of May, 2010 had one full page illunstrationg her therories; here book: "Throw out 50 things: Clear the Clutter Find Your Life"..maybe give you inspiration and valuable information.
This blog is not about clutter or finding my life--although there indeed may be some unexpected,valuable, interesting transformations along the way..
For me...and I hope for any who choose to come along... I hope for and expect a "interesting" journey..an adventure into the ???????

INSPIRATION for ProjectDistribute-2026: Getting Rid of Stuff and this Blog
February-2010...Good friend deciding to giver up her generous/spacious 3 bedroom, 2/half bath town house and move five hours north to be close to family; thus downsizing to a 2 bedroom apartment in an upscale retirement community.
Oldest daughter giving excellent "advise"/offer: Mom---choose what you want to take..move..and I WILL GET RID OF THE REST OF YOUR STUFF.
Knowing this triggered a happy thinking process for me: IF I were downsizing--what would I take???what would I leave???what would I get rid of...and HOW????
I do keep a neat, uncluttered house; living room, dining room, kitchen, power room ready for guests anytime; kitchen cabinates and drawers-orderly/organized, closets-orderly/organized.
Bedrooms/offices and baths--neat, uncluttered; chests, desks, closets--orderly/organized...
However.....THERE IS STUFF...accumulated and kept over XX years.
The "easy" decisions: furniture,pictures. lamps..either they "fit" or they go to a home consignment store, Goodwill, maybe an "estate" sale..
therefore the GET-RID-OF-STUFF challenge is all the "orderly/organized' STUFF in cabinets, drawers, closets.....
So The ADVENTURE begins....getting rid of ALL extraneous STUFF BY 2026.
DISTRIBUTED SO FAR:
1. 25 zippered carry-on bags receiver as 'gifts' from various tour companies --never used.
Given to the Unitarian Church Winter Shelter for homeless women.
2. 10 books to the County Library book store for resale...
WAITING/ready FOR DROP OFF:
1. TO HOMELESS CENTER: maybe 200 tubes of hair conditioner--gotten with hair color
2. To Salvation Army: 10 "oprhan" wine glasses
Distribute the Stuff... and...well thats the adventure.
